Kepribadian Tokoh Utama dalam Novel “For The Love Of My Son Karya Margaret Davis” (Kajian Kepribadian Marxian “Erich Fromm”)

: Novel For the Love of My Son (LS) by Margaret Davis is one of the novels in translation that elevates the condition of human existence. The purpose of this study was to describe the personality of the main character in the novel by Margaret Davis LS using a Marxian approach to personality (Erich Fromm). The method used is qualitative content analysis technique with descriptive features. The results showed (1) The dilemma of human existence on the main character in the novel LS: get married, have children, happy, sad, responsible, lonely and want kekerjasama; (2) The need for the main character in the face of existence: the attention to the family, the pride of the children and maintain a good relationship between mother and child; (3) The mechanism of escape from freedom; a) Margaret trying to help others to get love but do not give positive things to himself (negative); b) Endeavour to send criminals to prison to gain strength or inner satisfaction (positive). c) Adjusting to outsiders to have the freedom (positive).
